RainierHooker's E30 M3
Well I just bought her, so I thought I'd whore her out...

Since I've been over in the A'Stan for these last many months I have been pinching my pennies with the dream that I may one day own one of my all-time dream cars. As it turns out, this pipe-dream came true, ahead of schedule, and ahead of my return. This is my new-to-me E30 M3. She's a 1990 model, with a build date of 12/1989, in Brillantrot over black Bison-Leather interior. She's almost completly stock except for a few trinkets like the stereo head-unit (a particularly obnoxious sparkle-dazzle one is in place of the original cassette-deck) the exhaust (some sort of DTM-style knock-off thing) and the wheels. She's currently sitting on 17x8 BBS RX-II's...

Due to my militaryness, I'm currently sepparated from my new-found love, however our rendevous and some changes are forthcoming. The dazzler headunit is going in favor of an original cassette-deck and CD changer. The exhaust is going for something a bit more high-brow, and the wheels are changing in favor of these after a re-fresh...

They are Hartge Type-A's, in a staggered 16x7.5 Front and 16x8.5 Rear, some of my all-time favorite wheels. Naturally thse will be accompanied by a sedate but noticable drop, compliments of H&R Race Springs and Bilstein Sport Struts.

Once all the little bits are perfect, the plan is for a garnishing of OEM Euro parts and any other genuine Hartge bits I can get my hands on. I promise that she will be a head turner for the innitiated.

'Till the homecoming...

Thanks guys, I can't really express the anticipation I have for getting home and driving this car, let alone the tinkering.

That is one clean E30. You are a lucky man... I would fake a mental breakdown if I were you just so I could be with the car sooner.

RE: RainierHooker's E30 M3
Thanks. I probably could have waited to find one when I got home, had one this clean not diverted my attention.

Anyways, I just bought this to go with the wheels...

...an original Hartge E30 strut bar. From here-on-out you could say I'm going for a Hartge theme on the M3, and I'm actively hunting for more genuine Hartge bits. I'm hoping to source a pile of approriate bits before I get home so I can devote all my energy on the build this coming summer. Even with all the Hartge flair, the car will still look remarkably stock. To all but the innitiated.

For those of you that may not know, Hartge is a tuning house in Germany that solely tunes BMW's. Back in the day, when my car was new, they were particularly avid in the International Rally and Touring Car scenes.

I've been eyeballing that car on MunichEvo's website for months. Congrats on the purchase man! Looks like you've got the right idea when it comes to modding. Stoked to see what you do with it!

RE: RainierHooker's E30 M3
Well, I'm home on leave, and since my return I've spent some time getting better aquainted with the newest love of my life, my 1990 Brillantrot M3. And here she is...

The car is 90% stock, as far as I can tell from the car and the two inches of records and reciepts, the only things changed from stock are:

Original interior swapped from Natur to OEM Schwartz/Anthrazit
Sport Evo brake rotors
SuperSprint cat-back (with fugly tips IMO)
adapted E46-fittment BBS RXs
Pioneer Head unit

As stated earlier, she won't be getting much in the way of mods outside of the OEM++ category. The headunit will be returned to stock, with maybe an added aux-in for an iPod, and as mentioned before, I am going to add a splash of Hartge flair here and there as able. I already added a rear plate filler.

Without further ado, onto the pics...

Here's the swag to date...

Plans in the near term include cleanup and installation of:

Hartge Strut Brace
Hartge Exhaust Tip
Hartge Staggered 16x7.5(f) / 16x8.5® wheels
Toyo R1R tires in 225/45ZR16
Replace the bumper-tape removed by PO

Plans for when I get home for good:
Relace all suspension bushings
H&R Race Springs on Bilstein Sport Struts
Auto-X the poop out of it!
