New cars vs. old cars
So, I haven't driven that many cars in my life, but I feel like older cars are much more enjoyable to drive. I recently drove an e90 335i and it was really quick, however it wasn't very much fun. It seems like new cars don't have the same mechanical feeling to them.

What do you guys think? Do you get what I'm hinting at?

RE: New cars vs. old cars
Totally! Considering I own a 91 Integra myself, I love the feeling older cars have. Sure newer cars are more stable and have a more comfortable feeling, but mine is pretty raw and just fun to drive. No power steering, power locks, ABS, power adjusting mirrors, windows, I don't even have a sunroof!

Just something about older cars that I love Cool

Exactly, it's like cars lost their personality recently. I would much rather have a car like yours with no abs/airbags/powersteering, ect. You just feel so much more in tune with the car.

My brothers 320i 1980, originally had like 90rwhp, and it was still exhilarating every time I would sit in the passenger seat.

Meanwhile, that e90 has like 300hp and I took it up to 100ish, and didn't even feel that excited

*sigh*

You and I are on the same level man! You nailed it exactly when you said "just feel so much more in tune with the car." Some people could disagree with this whole statement, but I for one prefer older cars over new ones.

RE: New cars vs. old cars
Old cars ftw, New cars have too much electrical garbage and non needed shit in it, its alll about that old school feel, that 80's smell in my car that wont go away. older cars interior to me feels more comfortable, its all square and simple, as new cars interiors are huge and flat/rounded and ugly, and andye30 you are right about new cars loosing personality, couldn't have said it any better.

RE: New cars vs. old cars
My daily is a new car and I must say i love it. Comfortable, nice features, etc... But old cars always have a place in my heart. I jizz myself for old bimmers and just think that old cars look sonmuch better modded. Dream is to keep a nice new and comfy daily as well as an older car to make intoma sex machine

RE: New cars vs. old cars
Older cars where much lighter and smaller which you were able to throw around and have better yaw factor. New cars like s2000s, lotus, etc still have that factor.

I have both ends of the spectrum. 1986 and 2008. I like both, so really no complaints.

RE: New cars vs. old cars
Old Cars are amazing, but sometimes require too much work. I had an 86 E30 that had too much needed that i could barley drive to school and back, but it ran like a champ and on the weekends i had good runs.. My 90 Lexus however had a power steering leak, so driving it everyday was a new experience. But now that i drive a MZ3 i have no complaints cept power. I've driven over 23 different cars. I'll definitely give you that on the BMW, they've sort of lost their touch. I drove a newer 328i and it was no where as near as fun as my old E30, you just had more thrill with it. But i drove my grandpas rental Lexus IS250 and that was way more fun than the Es250 i had..

RE: New cars vs. old cars
Looks like everyone likes a daily driver that is newer, and a weekend car that is older.

RE: New cars vs. old cars
old car > new car, mainly because i feel more in control of the car and you can actually predict what they car is going to do with basic mechanical features. if it aint broke dont fix it we just need to teach our drivers not to suck

RE: New cars vs. old cars
i daily drive an 03 protege.. sure its relaible and you can say nice..
but my dream car is more along the lines of a 180sx, ae86, mazda fc etc...
Driving my uncles 60s to 80s cars feel great, like you can really connect with old
cars.. my mom has an 08 pontiac g8, it gets up and goes but it just feels too new.. no personality

RE: New cars vs. old cars
I love both, because they're completely different. Older cars have more of a raw feel to them and are more than most of the time "driver's cars". Newer cars not so much, but you get more luxury and comfort out of a newer car for the most part. So kind of balance each other out in different ways.

I guess I would prefer an older car though, there are so many legendary cars out there that changed the automotive scene, like older BMW's (E24 M6, E30 M3), the Audi Sport Quattro, Older Mazda's (Miata, etc), and of course the old skool JDM cars. Plus older cars are most of the time easier to work on.
