Looking for some Photography "Help" haha - 09SSTurboSedan - 03.06.2012 11.08 PM alright so i got this new Canon T1i and i am not too good at using it, i was wondering if someone could help me out with all the settings and making my pictures come out good and blah blah blah haha if your willing to meet up one night and help me ill buy dinner!! Joe RE: Looking for some Photography "Help" haha - sbghms - 03.07.2012 12.23 AM The best thing you can do is trial and error in manual mode. Read about the basic settings on a camera, aperture, iso, shutter speed, etc and how they affect the pictures. Many people just shoot in aperture priority or shutter priority depending on what's being shot. I'm not really a photographer, I'm more into video, but maybe someone else could chime in. This is what I did. I learned what settings did what, and just took a bunch of pictures of the same thing and messed with the settings. Not that I'm a super good photographer either. Haha RE: Looking for some Photography "Help" haha - SkiPunk11 - 03.07.2012 09.55 AM I'm asian, whatcha wanna know?? RE: Looking for some Photography "Help" haha - SOLARSUPLEX - 03.07.2012 10.08 AM Buy a 20 dollar book online or at a store. Everything you need to know will be in there. RE: Looking for some Photography "Help" haha - Devastator - 03.07.2012 11.43 AM It took me many years, to get my photos to have the wow factor. The key is willing to experiment. I would say it's 75% picture taking, and 25% post processing. If you start with a good photo, it's much easier to do post processing to get that wow factor. RE: Looking for some Photography "Help" haha - 09SSTurboSedan - 03.07.2012 07.06 PM haha i want to take better night pics! RE: Looking for some Photography "Help" haha - SOLARSUPLEX - 03.07.2012 10.35 PM Do this and night pics will be WOW until you learn more,. then they will be less wow. 1. Obtain tripod 2. Set iso to 200-400. 3. Set aperature as wide open as you can 4. experiment with different length exposures. 10 seconds at f/2.8 or maybe 30 seconds at f/5.6. Just take a shit ton of pictures. Make it your goal to either run out of battery or fill up your card before you go home. if you take 300 pictures you ought to like one of them. RE: Looking for some Photography "Help" haha - 09SSTurboSedan - 03.07.2012 10.38 PM sounds good man thanks! ill try it out this weekend RE: Looking for some Photography "Help" haha - SOLARSUPLEX - 03.07.2012 10.51 PM Tripod in the dark is key. You need the longer exposure without the shake. And if you need to use the auto timer on your camera so you dont have to touch it when the shutter goes. that way there will be no shake. RE: Looking for some Photography "Help" haha - 09SSTurboSedan - 03.07.2012 10.53 PM for sure, every time i took night pics they came out just a tad blurry. and the lighting was a tad off so hopefully after playing with this i can dial it in RE: Looking for some Photography "Help" haha - 09SSTurboSedan - 03.07.2012 10.55 PM couple of my night pics, no tripod though ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() 4x4!! haha ![]() ![]()
RE: Looking for some Photography "Help" haha - crash! - 03.08.2012 08.36 AM Yeah for night pictures I set the shutter speed to be pretty long (10-30 seconds depending on how dark it is), Fstop to it's lowest, I set my ISO on auto because usually my camera knows what ISO is going to turn out the best. With my Canon if I mess with the ISO too much it turns out grainy, so the shutter speed fixes that problem. Just make sure to use a tripod. Another editing trick that I use on a lot of my pictures is adding a "gradient overlay" layer. You can choose where your light is most concentrated on, and I think it would really benefit your garage pictures. RE: Looking for some Photography "Help" haha - SOLARSUPLEX - 03.08.2012 08.48 AM And with a tripod. If you have live view. Use that and manual focus to.get what you want on focus. Some of your shots the car is a bit out of focus RE: Looking for some Photography "Help" haha - kmay253 - 03.09.2012 02.01 AM Just put it on full auto and pray you get lucky. That's what I do. Christ, if that's the case I want your camera, bad! RE: Looking for some Photography "Help" haha - SOLARSUPLEX - 03.09.2012 11.05 AM Or just put it on p mode for professional. RE: Looking for some Photography "Help" haha - RookAQ - 03.11.2012 09.52 PM Try setting your camera on either aperture priority (Av) or exposure priority (Tv). Then take your car out to a location you're familiar with and shoot at various angles and distances on both settings. Pay attention to how your reacts to changes in settings, lighting, distances, focal lengths, etc. Your photos are composed well, but like SOLARSUPLEX said some of your shots are a bit out of focus. I'm not entirely familiar with the Canon UI, is there any way you can set up your camera so that a grid and the focal points are displayed in the viewfinder? That might help. As far as night pictures go, you'll need a tripod to compensate for vibrations and longer shutter speeds. I've been shooting for about a year and a half and I've just now gotten to the point where I can spend a day at an event and walk away with four or five tolerable pictures. That being said, I'm a pretty terrible photographer but as with anything you need to put time into it! |
