Dusten's 2k1 Lightning - dusten - 04.14.2011 06.52 PM I purchased the truck in July of 2010 and it looked just like this. ![]() I decided i didn't like the stickers so a heat gun and a few hours and I had this ![]() I am not fan of the stock lightning tail lights... ![]() So I took the housings apart and painted the inside black. ![]() ![]() I also wired the fogs to come on with my running lights ![]() Not satisfied with my stock tails, I went with a tinted set. ![]() I also decided the rear end sat to high, so i removed 1 leaf from the rear leaf pack. Before ![]() and after Its hard to tell, as it only dropped about .5" ![]() That has been the extent of external modifications I have installed. My plans for the summer are to install new clear corners with stealth bulbs, and powder coat the wheels black. Existing mods are clear corners, 99 lightning grills painted gloss black and a Cobra R hood courtesy of Cervini's. RE: Dusten's 2k1 Lightning - dusten - 04.14.2011 06.53 PM As far as performance goes, the truck needed very little, but that doesn't stop one, does it? The biggest piece of performance has been a new 4R100 built by Dante's Modular Performance in San Diego. ![]() And a full billet 2800 rpm stall converter, courtesy of Circle D Converters in Houston Texas. ![]() The install wasn't terrible, but was done on the floor, which is always miserable. ![]() ![]() ![]() Lightnings are known for wheel hop, and the fact the truck is packing about 560 ft/lbs of torque, I decided to get that taken care of. I had a local shop fab up some long bars for the truck. They are also tied into a drive shaft loop. ![]() You'll notice in this picture I will be tearing into the rear end soon to fix a leaky seal ![]() ![]() ![]() In this picture you can kind of see the exhaust that was on it. It had bassani short tube headers, bassani catless mid pipes and flowmasters.
RE: Dusten's 2k1 Lightning - dusten - 04.14.2011 06.54 PM The tail pipes didnt clear the bars as you can see here ![]() And over all I thought the truck was too loud. as noted in this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oEmG9QXNu7g So I took it to Randy's Custom Exhaust and had a new magnaflow muffler installed with new tail pipes. ![]() Here is a shot of what came out ![]() The truck is much quieter I think http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y1_pQxhQy_s Up for install this summer is a new transmission cooler ![]() And a stock upper pulley along with a new tune from Amazon Tuning Solutions ![]() And thats it for now. Long term plans are a forged bottom end, ported heads, cams, and a Magnum Powers blower. the rear end is done with a detroit locker, new gears and a rebuild kit. The trans is done. RE: Dusten's 2k1 Lightning - dusten - 04.14.2011 07.02 PM a full mod list of the truck is Visual - Cervini's Cobra R Hood Clear Corners Tinted Tails 99 Lightning Wheels 99 Lightning Grills Interior 3 gauge pod with boost, volts, and an AEM Wideband Suspension 2" belltech coils 2" rear shackles with 1 leaf removed from the leaf pack Fusco Fab long bars with driveshaft loop Engine C&L CAI and intake elbow Diablo MAFia 6lb lower pulley 2.83" upper pulley Ported Eaton supercharger Predator tuner with Horsepower connection dyno tune Bassani short tube headers Bassani catless mid pipes Magnaflow catback Drivetrain DMP built 4R100 Circle D 2800 stall Detroit locker other minor things - no front sway bar, no hitch Truck made 424 horsepower 560 ft/lbs of torque and has run a 13.02 @ 109 on street tires with a 1.99 60' time RE: Dusten's 2k1 Lightning - NW_EM1 - 04.14.2011 07.51 PM car looks good man! also nice power numbers and mod list, really liking your lightning! RE: Dusten's 2k1 Lightning - willdoown - 04.15.2011 05.43 AM I think this is a good signing, I see the boy play, he really impressed me. I remember watching Memorial Cup last spring, to see him play and thought he would be a good pick of the Lightning. I was surprised, he had no choice, then the faster the fifth round. RE: Dusten's 2k1 Lightning - Nismo35 - 04.15.2011 08.25 AM one of the few fords i would drive. well done! body drop next?

I can drop it a ton more via suspension, but won't. It already drags the traction bars in my driveway. It'd be a total pain in the ass to drive any lower. RE: Dusten's 2k1 Lightning - exigejoe - 04.21.2011 09.12 PM Love lightnings. My friend had one and just did a pulley mod and sucker went a whole lot faster. Yup, most trucks look better when it's lifted. But looking at this type of truck again. I kind of get your point. If it was an f-150 than I would have to COMPLETELY disagree with you. RE: Dusten's 2k1 Lightning - dusten - 04.25.2011 03.59 PM it is an F-150, but its 2wd, no need for a lift here Took an exhaust vid today http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mq-o4OMfXPA RE: Dusten's 2k1 Lightning - AznPersuazion - 04.25.2011 11.50 PM Damn, that's small for a F-150 RE: Dusten's 2k1 Lightning - dusten - 11.23.2011 09.50 PM Hmmm, this is long over due I have a new short block on the way, cams, all new timing parts, gaskets, hoses, belts, new clear corners, and then a new tune. Blower already pulled ![]() As it sits ![]() ![]() Parts ![]() ![]()
