On Sunday March 25, Northwest Nissans held Nissan Fest at Evergreen Speedway in Monroe, Washington. This event was the first of its kind for both entities and it was without a doubt a success. The event replaced a meet NWN had held in previous years at another location where turnout exceeded capacity. The track handled the drifting event with NWN help and NWmotiv.com handled the car show aspect. Did I mention the whole event was FREE to spectators?
This 1991 MR2 belongs to Charles Justin Basco from Mountlake Terrace, WA. This car would be old enough to drink if it was a person but it’s in great shape and the modest outside hides what lies beneath. For starters it’s rocking a JDM 1993 Lexus ES300 3VZFE V6, custom intake, Magnaflow Exhaust with OEM Nissan 350z exhaust tips. The Nissan tips look great on this classic import.
This Johnjohn tuned Black STI made 422whp 399wtq on a dyno last month and the tuning hasn’t even been finished. The owner is heading out to serve his country and care for some troops in some corner of the world so the work will have to be placed on hold.
This V6 Toyota MR2 belongs to Matt Dirth of University Place. He’s a self proclaimed “Toyota nut” who wedged the engine from a Lexus into his runabout. The 1MZ-FE 3.0L V6 swap was his first and it was a great success because it turned out so well. He’s smoothed over all the problems he encountered during the swap and it’s reliable enough to drive every day.
The 20 year old car is well cared for and instead of installing new rims; Matt rehabbed some classic Stern rims from the same era to complete the look. All he’s got to do is replace the center caps that have eluded him so far. The addition of a Pioneer head unit and Sparco seats update the cabin.
The old school popup headlights hide some modern HID’s to brighten the way. That Holy carbon fiber front lip is handmade and only a few examples exist. A fellow MR2 fanatic crafted it in a garage.
Matt is most proud of the face that he did the work himself in his garage. He is planning an Eaton M90 Supercharger and a standalone EMS unit for the future. They car sounds great, looks great and will only get better. Matt’s nw-built.com screen name is Deucethemoose and he can also be found on PSTOC.org
Below is list of mods that Matt shared with us.

Here is another clean civic, this one comes from Seattle. This one belongs to Robert Hoffer and is a Supercharged 2008 Honda Civic Coupe. This car would fall under the WSP radar since it’s very mild on first glance and built up where it should be. Robert is a Seattle City employee and did the vast majority of work on the car himself with the support of his wife and friends from 8thcivic.com.
The outside has an OEM spoiler to accent the new eyelids over the HID kit. On the back there is a special 3rd light break cover. The overall white scheme is interrupted by only a few vinyl decals. The EVO wheels
Inside the cabin are a Clarion head unit and all the gauges to monitor the hardware underneath the hood. Red LED’s through the cabin provide mood lighting at stoplights. There are some JDM touches inside for a little flair.
Under the hood is a supercharger with the wheel horse power at 280. A stage 2 clutch and some more cooling for the engine are coming during some future mods. This car looks great and sounds great. It has a lot of attention to detail and is well put together.
Here is a full list of mods provided by the driver, along with some words of thanks.
